About My Clients

Are you looking to increase your emotional well-being? Therapy can provide you with insight regarding why you have been experiencing strong emotions and displaying behaviors that are new to you. I look forward to working together and helping you find clarity so that you can live the life that you desire and deserve.

My Background and Approach

Working with African American individuals on managing stress, relationships, and challenges related to identity & self-esteem are my areas of focus. I am passionate about creating partnerships with individuals, incorporating their beliefs, and building upon their strengths. I have been helping others identify and manage their emotions, strengthen their communication skills, and navigate many of life's obstacles for over 10 years. I have previously worked with adult/juvenile detention centers, child protection services, community mental health centers, and assisted living facilities. I received my Bachelor of Social Work degree at Mississippi Valley State University and a Master of Social Work at the University of Southern Mississippi. When I'm not working with clients you can find me spending time with family, making Youtube videos, or reading financial books.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Racism has had a major impact on the mental health of Black Americans. Recent events of police brutality, coupled with the devastating effects of Covid-19, has brought more attention to the effects of racism in the Black community. Despite calls for change, little has been done to address systemic racism. Feelings of anger, sadness, and anxiety that arise during repeated incidents of racism should be better examined and processed with competent Mental Health Professionals. Over 7 million Black Americans reported having mental health issues. Adult Black Americans are 20% more likely to report serious psychological distress than adult White Americans but far less likely to seek care. Additionally, many Black men and women lack access to proper mental health care. And that is why I started the Support for Black Mental Health Fund on GoFundMe. This fund will allow Black women and men to process psychological issues and heal their trauma in safe spaces.
