About My Clients
You worry you aren’t doing things right and you’re burdened with obstacles that keep you stuck. As this overwhelm grows bigger it's hard to be your authentic self, act upon your gifts, and form meaningful relationships. You shy away from taking risks and you're ashamed to share your feelings with others. I've created a safe space for you to discover and align closely with your values, the things you love, enthusiastically pursue those things, and minimize what keeps you from living well.
My Background and Approach
You don't have to do this alone; it's entirely possible to feel connected, fulfilled and unstuck. My job is to create a safe and judgement free space for the healing process to unfold. Your challenges are opportunities to strengthen your relationships, learn how to navigate difficulty, and improve the inevitability of surviving more problems. We'll start by reducing any shame that gets in the way and help you claim and care for your identity, needs, and beliefs. I’ll guide you to carefully turn towards your suffering so that you will see more clearly the problems and paradoxes you face, resolve them, and gain wisdom. Staying with and exploring our painful experiences helps build a foundation for improvement. We'll lean in to your strengths and begin to build the life you want to live. You’ll walk away with a shifted perspective and a “lightness” to tackle any obstacle that comes your way.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that to lack a sense of belonging and to feel unlovable is the equivalent of pain and suffering. It's my belief that to be free from shame and fear is a human right, and compassion for self and others goes a long way. About a decade ago I began my own journey of personal healing that continues to unfold. I had the good fortune to encounter some amazing therapists who helped me to discover my compassion, curiosity, and empathic qualities. My life changed when I leaned in with curiosity to my truth, developed a caring relationship to my pain, and shifted my mindset from not good enough to worthy. It’s become my daily practice to be curious rather than furious and to choose courage over comfort. My perspective is influenced by where I grew up in Oakland, CA, home to one of the most diverse and forward thinking towns. It's good to find humor and engage in the activities that fill our "joy cup." I derive meaning via relationship and fill my joy cup by singing in harmony.
