About My Clients

I have had experience working with individuals, couples, and groups who are struggling with various issues, including but not limited to: trauma/abuse, gender/sexual identity, anxiety, depression, substance use, acculturation, racial identity exploration, and dismantling internalized inferiority and/or superiority.

My Background and Approach

I have had the privilege of working in and amongst diverse populations, which has reframed my approach to therapy in order to ensure that it is more adaptable, accessible, and demystified. Listening, validation, curiosity, challenging, and accountability are important features of my approach to my work with my clients. Therapy for too long has been a space that perpetuates the harmful ideologies in psychology that are rooted in whiteness, capitalism, and dehumanization. Therefore, I draw upon queer, intersectional feminist, humanistic, multicultural, trauma-informed, decolonized, and anti-oppressive theories to foster an egalitarian and collaborative relationship. In therapy, I utilize tailored approaches that meet my clients needs and goals. Through consultation, I seek to amplify the messages and teachings of Queer, TGNC, & BIPOC to create affirming practices/policies. As a supervisor, I aim to assist my supervisees with developing culturally responsive approaches to therapy.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a proud queer/non-binary person, who is actively engaged in several Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion initiatives/subcommittees for two organizations: Montefiore Medical Center and Point Park University. I am a proud cancer survivor, who provides one-on-one mentorship through the Imerman Angels organization. I am the current President of the Point Park University Alumni Association Board of Directors as well as an ex-officio member of the university's Board of Trustees. I have two kittens that I have recently adopted (Orion & Apollo) and have a love for all animals. I participate in ongoing professional development as well as various consultation groups surrounding decolonizing mental health as well as developing anti-oppressive practices/therapeutic skills. I have been a life long advocate and accomplice for dismantling oppressive systems. I have lived experience with and continue to engage in my own therapeutic healing surrounding trauma, abuse, sex work, and loss of my brother.
