Somatic Experiencing is a body centered practice that provides clinical skills to resolve fixed physiological states (i.e. fight, flight, freeze). Together, we learn more about the client's nervous system while developing more interoceptive awareness that gives them more opportunity for healthy coping to be naturally restored. Whether it's a car accident, relationship issues, or past traumas, Somatic Experiencing can be helpful for clients who have had limited success with talk therapy.
Brainspotting can bypass the ‘thinking’ cortex of the brain and it’s thought to directly access the deep parts of your brain linked to emotion regulation. You will be assisted to scan your vision field to locate a “brainspot” – an eye position that activates distress or trauma. By identifying a brainspot, you target an area of focused activation in your brain, directly related to the issue you are working on.
Eye-Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy is well-researched and widely practiced, showing efficacy in helping people recover from (but not limited to) panic disorders, depression, and PTSD. EMDR is an 8 phase treatment that can also be facilitated online. It differs from talk therapy, as the process focuses on the brain’s natural ability to heal itself, helping to recalibrate the stress response to become more adaptive and balanced.
