Have you noticed a rut in your relationship? Having problems working though daily problems? Feeling disconnected in your relationship? Disconnect can happen over time and before you realize, the person you once knew seems different. Working to not only understand our needs but also to help our partners understand us can be insightful and life changing, and is the work I hope to do with you.
My Background and Approach
I have a masters in clinical psychology with an emphasis in marriage and family therapy. I specialize in relationships and what makes them vital and healthy. My therapeutic approach stems from humanistic and existential psychotherapy foundations, meaning, I believe my place in the room is to meet you where you are. I have advanced training in emotion focused therapy (EFT) and have also completed Level 1 and 2 in Gottman Method practices. I incorporate these practices to help couples and individuals create a safe space to talk about hard things and work through it honestly, productively and vulnerably.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe therapy can be a space to revitalize our wellness and the energy of our relationships. What we cultivate and nourish grows. This is definitely not an easy process but its one that can cause ripple effect changes in our lives. Although there are many stigmas about mental health and couples work, I believe therapy can be insightful and a place for meaningful work if you lean in to that discomfort and find the right fit for you. With some relationships also comes the topic of sex, so I believe an integral part of relationships is not only emotional intimacy but sexual intimacy, and I strive to provide a space for sex positivity and openness. While I never claim to be perfect, I strive to practice what I preach, so when I am not helping individuals and couples navigate their relationships, I aim to pour into my own. I have a husband, children, dogs, family and friends that I too navigate to balance and nourish.
