About My Clients
I offer therapy to individuals recovering from a variety of emotional battles, including (but not limited to) the intersection of eating disorders and trauma. The clients that I work with are willing to be authentic, show up, and dive deep into the meaning, purpose, and function behind the ways in which we show up for the world. I work with individuals to live a life more aligned with who they truly are.
My Background and Approach
I have extensive training and experience working with eating disorders and have held positions in various leading treatment centers. I take a holistic approach to a person's recovery from an eating disorder and do not adhere to the traditional "one-size-fits-all" mentality that is present in this field. I want individuals to find what works for them in their mental health recovery. We all have aspects of our identity - be it gender expression, sexuality, racial/ethnic background, body size - that make our journey uniquely special. I want to honor each client's intersectionality and begin to promote authentic and full healing. This means that my approach to counseling is eclectic and I pull from various therapeutic orientations to create a treatment approach that is aligned with the needs of each client. I have a background in art and yoga therapy. In addition, I pull from narrative-based, Gestalt, somatic experiencing, person-centered, and trauma-focused interventions in my sessions.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that each person has something unique to offer the world. No one is quite like you and no one is quite like me and I would never want anyone to feel like they need to change in order to fit into prior set expectations. I believe in honoring every person's whole identity. I believe in Health at Every Size (HAES), LGBTQ+ voices, BIPOC representation, gender equality, women's rights, animal rights, climate rights, and any movement that promotes voices of the oppressed and equality for all. I want counseling to feel like an inclusive and safe space for my clients and I am willing to have a conversation with you about all aspects of your identity. Please, reach out. I'd love to begin the conversation.
