My Background and Approach

I attained my education from California State University, Fullerton, with my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology & Women & Gender Studies, & my Master of Science in Counseling with an emphasis in Marriage & Family Therapy. I completed my practicum with individuals from diverse identities & lived experiences at Orange Coast College, Student Health Center in Costa Mesa. I work from an attachment/emotion-focused approach with an intersectional feminist lens, and I specialize in identity exploration and relational work concentrating on teens, young adults, couples, families, and parents navigating their relationship with themselves and those around them. I emphasize empowerment, patience, non-judgment, & empathy & I utilize my intuition & sensitivities to create a sacred space & therapeutic relationship for your healing to blossom. I am a lifelong student that is trauma-informed, actively working to be anti-racist, culturally competent, and LGBTQ+ affirming.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that the personal is political & every lived experience is full of a multitude of identities that are impacted by the social & cultural contexts in which they occur. I integrate discussion & acknowledgment of systemic oppression as these factors cannot be overlooked. I have a genuine desire for knowledge & understanding. I am passionate about my Master’s thesis where I researched the high prevalence of unacknowledged rape & the importance for therapists to deconstruct rape culture through sex-positive, person-centered advocacy & activism. Any individual change within therapy will unfailingly be impeded if the larger systems & culture remain the same. Thus, I believe that my role as a therapist must extend into active participation through therapeutic advocacy that includes learning & listening to others, providing resources, facilitating psychoeducation workshops, challenging the -isms, & being congruent across all spheres of my life.
