I am a LMFT with experience in grief and loss, life transitions, severe mental health diagnoses, caregiver support and more.
Licensed Marriage & Family Therapist in Woodinville, WA
Rather than assuming we are meant to be happy all the time, ACT acknowledges all humans suffer. We can have food, shelter, money, love and yet still struggle with Depression. Exploring insights to how understanding suffering and happiness are connected can help bring about change.
Therapy is not forever. It is important to help people now (for the appropriate course of treatment needed). Asking questions to help with insight, helping to think about the future and any blocks we may have can be useful. Sometimes having a few new tools is enough to get you started and you may see more immediate changes.
It is important that your needs be met. If for some reason we are not a good fit, then it is my job to make sure we find where you need to be. However, we will work together to find what theory or methods work best for you. For example, in Grief and Loss, we may find Worden's Four Tasks of Mourning is helpful, or Continuing Bonds. Not every theory is adaptable to every specific situation. We will explore together.
No matter the loss, it is important to know your grief is individual. We will explore styles of grief, factors which impact our loss experience, secondary losses, coping skills, and finding a new normal.
Many people find their grief and loss is related to other non death experiences, such as retirement, empty nest, moving, change of jobs, personal identity (sexuality, faith). I can help you explore current stressors and help make a plan for the future.
Often care giving for a loved one falls on one person. It is my hope to provide support to you as you manage and balance this. I have experience aiding those whose loves ones have chronic medical concerns, terminal illness, or mental health diagnoses.
