About My Clients
I have been a mental health therapist since 2005, working with youth, families and individuals in a variety of domains, including in-home family therapy, foster care, and in schools. I have extensive experience in supporting youth ages 5-18, including culturally/ethnically diverse individuals, recent immigrants, and transgender, non-binary, and/or gender fluid youth. I am also knowledgeable in supporting polyamorous, kinky, and queer individuals.
My Background and Approach
I am trained in many modalities, including intensive family preservation, cognitive behavioral therapy, dialectal behavioral therapy, trauma-focused CBT, play therapy and art therapy. I am an active, directive therapist who enjoys helping people discover the resilience they already have created, and building off of those skills. I am client-centered, meeting people where they are at, encouraging them to grow their compassionate inner voice about their choices and worries. I am trained in helping people with depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder and other mood disorders.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that there are many right ways to live our lives, and each person is the expert on themselves. I enjoy giving people the space to safely explore who they are and who they would like to become. I am a Health at Every Size provider, and enjoy helping people heal their relationship with their body through thinking, feeling and doing. I am queer and polyamorous, and believe that when therapists share about their relationship style, it de-stigmatizes ethical non-monogamy for everyone. I see gender as a spectrum, and often one that changes and evolves for people as they age. The less people are forced to adhere to the gender binary, the freer everyone is to be their true selves.
