About My Clients
Do you feel unsure of who you are now? Perhaps you are going through a transition in your life and trying to understand how to get along. Maybe you feel like you aren’t yourself because of intense, persistent feelings of some kind. Maybe your past is dragging you down. Maybe your relationships at home, work, or in your community are not as satisfying as you wish they could be. I am here to help you explore, understand, heal and more forward.
My Background and Approach
I know together we can sort through the confusion. As we talk, we will investigate who you are: what’s important, what’s getting in the way, why these same scenarios keep coming up and what you can do about it all. I use a number of clinical approaches including psychodynamic therapy, acceptance and commitment therapy, and mindfulness-based techniques. Those terms may or may not mean something to you, but you can expect to be telling your story. I will be asking clarifying questions, providing ideas to consider, and also teaching if needed. My style is warm and conversational. After we have spent some time together, we may also talk about our relationship directly. This gives us a chance to understand how you relate to other people in real-time.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that understanding creates opportunity. As you understand yourself (your history, your values, your limitations and your aspirations) you can choose how to go where you want to go. You can guide your own life. It's never easy, because understanding takes effort. I work to understand the life experience of each of my clients.
