About My Clients

I specialize in working with children and adolescents, as young as 3 years old, to improve their self-esteem, enhance their mood, lessen sadness and worries, express themselves more effectively, improve their social relationships, handle stress, process grief and loss, and help them to lead a more positive, fulfilling life. I work with parents to help them better understand their child and be the best parent they can be.

My Background and Approach

As a licensed clinical psychologist with over 20 years of experience, I strive to help children, adolescents, and adults to reach their full potential. I received my Doctorate in Clinical Psychology from the California School of Professional Psychology in Alameda, CA. I received my Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from UC Berkeley. My training and experience includes working with various populations, particularly community mental health and school-based counseling. I have training and experience in individual and family counseling as well as group therapy. With over 20 years of experience, one of my primary areas of specialization is in providing assessments and treatment for children and adolescents who have autism or Asperger's syndrome. I have been licensed as a clinical psychologist in the state of California since 2003 (PSY 19388). I am a member of the APA, CPA, SCCPA, NCSPP, and APT. I have served on two psychological executive boards from 2013-2017.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe the process of change requires an approach that takes into consideration biological, psychological, spiritual, and social factors affecting your mental health. I offer a highly personalized approach tailored to each client. I customize my way of working to who you are as the client, to what your needs are, and to what suits you as an individual. I help clients build on their strengths and attain the personal growth they are committed to achieving. Furthermore, because people are much more than their symptoms or personal life challenges, I am not solely concerned with what is not “working” for you, but I am also fascinated by your strengths, potential, creativity, and wholeness. My psychotherapeutic style is warm, reflective, and personal. I endeavor to create a safe therapeutic environment through supportive listening and empathy. People frequently say that they appreciate my non-judgmental and accepting attitude and comment on how safe they feel to be fully present.
