About My Clients

Tell me if this sounds familiar - ‘I have to be consistent. People rely on me, and I have to take care of them. I need to be strong for them, and I can’t let them down, or I’ll just be a failure. I shouldn’t ask for help, because no one will understand why I feel this way anyway. I just have to deal with it. I don’t have time to feel.’ If this sounds like the voice that’s in your head - I’m here to tell you, that voice is full of you-know-what. You don’t have to shoulder all that on your own.

My Background and Approach

I could tell you about my degrees, the fancy letters after my name, and the training I have - but what really matters is this. My business is personal. For me, for you, for all of us. While we’ll joke around and have moments of being goofy together, I also take this really seriously, because I know what it’s like to be on the receiving end of a therapist who didn’t care when I was in a pretty dark place in my own life. Therapy is such an intimate experience, and it takes a ton of bravery to reach out - it’s always humbling to me to have people choose me to be their support. That being said - I specialize in treating trauma and grief, since these almost always go hand in hand. I work primarily with adults in the medical field and current and retired military, using Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavioral Therapy (DBT), and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR).

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

There is no ‘right’ or ‘wrong’ when it comes to processing and healing from what you’ve been through. Loss - in any form - can create so much chaos, self-doubt, fear, and grief, and it shapes us and the ways we move through the world. Learning how to face loss, hold space for it, and not fear it, can help to create new places in your life where peace, calm, and eventually happiness, can start to exist again. It’s a huge joy for me to ‘help the helpers,’ because I know you put yourself last, all the time. You’ve always been the strong one for others - it’s ok to let someone else be strong for you, to support you, and to help you. You deserve to be treated with respect, and you have the right to choose which path feels best for you.
