My Background and Approach
Meredith Gawai is a Licensed Professional Counselor Associate (LPC-A) from Charleston, SC. Meredith is honored to partner with clients to heal the deep places - mind, body, and spirit. Meredith draws from a range of evidenced-based methods including Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Creative Art Therapy (CAT), and Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing (EMDR). Meredith completed her M.S. in Movement Therapy at Sarah Lawrence College, studying the mind-body connection for integrated wellness. Prior to her master’s degree, she completed her B.A. in Psychology and Dance at Columbia College, SC. Before becoming a therapist, Meredith worked as a full-time artist and founded a non-profit dance company.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a Christian and believe in God as a loving father, Jesus the son of God who paid for all sin, and Holy Spirit who guides us daily. My family have been involved in ministry in many capacities. I love clients who have also dedicated their life to ministry and feel burnt out or fatigued. In therapy, I love to assist clients in integrating their view of God, and what God believes about you into healing. I am also a wife, daughter of immigrants, and a loyal friend.
