About My Clients

I work with individuals, 18 and older, who are often exploring gender and sexuality, experiencing transitions of all kinds, and facing complex trauma, depression, anxiety, and chronic stress. I enjoy working with all sorts of people, especially undergrad/grad students and LGBTQIA+ folks. I know reflecting on our behaviors, thought patterns, and life experiences can be really difficult, and I’m committed to supporting you through that process.

My Background and Approach

I use a trauma-informed integrative approach to help meet clients' needs and goals, which means that I use, and offer, different resources depending on what's needed and when. But it's always all about the therapeutic relationship, listening carefully, and providing a safe non-judgmental space where you can show up however you are. I have an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I also have an MS in Biological and Physical Sciences, and a PhD in Microbiology. I draw from this experience and training, highlighting the mind-body connection, which can be beneficial in working with somatic effects of trauma, physical symptoms and illnesses, STIs, and many of our other layered experiences that come with having bodies. My practice is sex-positive, fat-positive, and queer- and gender-affirming. I am unable to accept insurance, but I am able to offer a sliding scale depending on income.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe that lasting change and healing are possible. Life can be incredibly hard at times. We can't control or change what has happened to us, what we needed but didn't get, or how isolating and confusing things can be. I really do get it. We don't have to keep repeating the same patterns or relating to ourselves and others in the same ways, even though this might feel impossible right now. We all deserve the opportunity to be safe, to be cared for, to be listened to carefully, and to not feel judged. The safe space of a therapeutic relationship where you feel truly supported can make a huge difference. I have previously worked in higher education, teaching in the biological and behavioral sciences, and as a workshop facilitator, focusing on anti-racism, sexual health for all bodies, and LGBTQIA+ justice. I have also co-facilitated groups for gender-expansive individuals, people examining their relationships with body image, LGBTQIA+ youth, and those living with HIV/AIDS.
