About My Clients

Life can be incredibly hard at times. We can't control or change what has happened to us, what we needed but didn't get, or how isolating and confusing things can be. Sometimes we don't understand why we feel the way we do, how people interact with us, our reactions, or what to do next. Maybe we don't feel much at all. I know reflecting on our behaviors, thought patterns, and life experiences can be incredibly difficult, and I’m here to support you through that process.

My Background and Approach

I use a trauma-informed relational approach that recognizes cultural differences and the ways society can shape our experience. The safe space of a therapeutic relationship where all versions of you feel truly seen and supported just as you are can make all the difference. I have an MA in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and I also have an MS in Biological and Physical Sciences, and a PhD in Microbiology. I draw from this experience and training, highlighting the mind-body connection, which can be beneficial in working with somatic effects of trauma, physical symptoms and illnesses, STIs, and many of our other layered experiences that come with having bodies. My practice is sex-positive, fat-positive, and LGBTQIA+ affirming. I cannot currently accept insurance (check back early fall), but offer a sliding scale depending on income. If you are uninsured, have Medicaid or are otherwise underinsured, or are a student, you may qualify for lower fee sessions starting at $30.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

We don't have to keep repeating the same patterns or relating to ourselves and others in the same ways. We all deserve the opportunity to be safe, cared for, listened to carefully, and understood. I believe that real, long-lasting, growth and change are possible. I work with individuals, 18 and older, who are often exploring gender and sexuality, experiencing life transitions of all kinds, are done (or want to be done) with dieting, or facing complex trauma, trauma, depression, anxiety, relationship challenges, and chronic stress. I occasionally work with couples/relationships and individuals aged 16+ who identify as LGBTQIA+. I have previously worked in higher education, teaching in the biological and behavioral sciences, and as a workshop facilitator, focusing on anti-racism, sexual health for all bodies, and LGBTQIA+ justice. I have also co-facilitated groups for trans* individuals, people examining their relationships with body image, LGBTQIA+ youth, and those living with HIV/AIDS.

I offer online counseling in the following states:
