Shame. Disgust. Betrayal. Terror. Panic. Helplessness. Rage. These are the common emotions that haunt or plague many survivors of (complex) trauma. Trauma can leave survivors feeling fragmented, dehumanized, and paralyzed. These emotions are often only one part of struggling to survive, with flashbacks and trauma responses often frustrating or flooding survivors. My clients discover what it means to be grounded again within their bodies, release trauma, and to reclaim safety within their bodies.
Sometimes your surroundings can feel unreal, almost dreamlike. Other times it can feel as if you are floating above or outside of yourself. Time passes you by, without any trace or recollection of where it went. While the dissociative response was such an adaptive survival response at one point, you have realized how it limits your ability to be fully present today. If you are looking to reclaim the relationship between your mind and body, I will be here as your guide.
Perhaps you are about to get married, or perhaps you are considering separating from your partner. Perhaps there was an affair, or perhaps your partner seems distracted with other aspects of life (career, games, porn). Regardless of what may bring you to couples therapy, I will be there to help your relationship. If you and your partner are struggling with communication, getting your needs met, or setting boundaries, I can be here to help guide you through this tricky process.
