About My Clients
I am passionate about working with clients who identify as LGBTQIA+ and their families, those impacted by addiction and trauma, and those who struggle with anxiety, depression, self-harm/suicidal ideation, creative blocks, loss of purpose, grief, and/or caregiver burnout. I enjoy working with children 2yrs+, adolescents and adults, as individuals, in families or in groups.
My Background and Approach
My approach is based on the knowledge that our beliefs create our reality. When we examine the beliefs that drive our actions, we have the opportunity to change them and improve our lives. I strive to be trauma informed, and approach working with diverse populations with humility and continuous learning. I hold an undergraduate degree in fine arts, as well as a master of science in social work and a master of science in couple and family therapy. I've received training in EMDR, play therapy and have extensive experience in working with addiction treatment and with families of addicted persons.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
My graduate studies helped me to understand how little I know about the experience of others. I must remain humble, and strive always to learn how better to be an ally to those in minority populations. As a therapist, being an ally means being well-informed, aware of my own implicit biases AND willing to admit mistakes and grow.
