About My Clients

At Self Space, I work with couples and adults. Being a counselor has allowed me to meet so many different types of people; it's an honor to get to be alongside people as they heal and grow. My ideal client is someone who, at some level, knows that the best medicine is for them to be themselves, and wants support with that process of discovery. Your symptoms don't define you, they provide an excellent place to enter more deeply into your experience.

My Background and Approach

I have a BA in Philosophy from Cornell University, which shaped me as a critical, analytical thinker. My MA is in Psychology: Systems Counseling from LIOS Graduate College of Saybrook University, where I learned to interpret psychological challenges from a multitude of perspectives. I've been practicing psychotherapy in a variety of roles in both the public and private sector throughout King County since 2012. In terms of my practice, I am an eclectic generalist who deeply values the therapeutic relationship. When you find a counselor you can really trust, the difficult process of healing becomes possible and fascinating. At my essence, I'm a humanist, and deeply curious about how human beings transform throughout life. I see people in terms of who they are as a whole, not as being defined by their limitations. I bring a playful, inquisitive attitude to my practice of therapy that allows my clients to get comfortable enough to go to the uncomfortable places that healing requires.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I love art, sports, reading and writing, and taking long walks, both in the city and in nature. I find writing to be extremely helpful for me to process my own experience, and walking alone or with close friends is one of my greatest joys. Seattle is full of wonderful cafes, and I can often be found posted up somewhere, scribbling something in a notebook, or hunting through a used bookstore. I grew up playing sports (baseball, basketball, tennis, cross country) and have long been fascinated by sports psychology. The embodied pursuit of the achievement of a common goal shows so much about the human condition, and in a way that is so elegant and powerful. My spirituality is essential to who I am. Drawn to eastern approaches, in particular Taoism, I am a mystic at heart. That said, I only bring my spirituality explicitly into play with people who are interested in that dimension of life. For me, spirituality is the embracing of all of life, however it decides to present itself.
