About My Clients
I love to help clients feel empowered to better understand their life experiences, wants, needs, and values. I work with people experiencing anxiety, sadness, grief, and sometimes just generally feeling lost. I have worked across differences in race, gender, sexual orientation, age and religion, and I deeply respect and appreciate the diversity of life experiences my clients come in with.
My Background and Approach
As a therapist my priority will be to form a strong, trusting relationship with you and create a space for you to reflect and explore that is safe and free of judgement. I invite you to come to therapy just as you are, and know that you are accepted that way. I use a strength-based and client centered approach to support clients in noticing their triggers, understanding their experience, and shifting things they would like to change in order to experience more fulfilling relationships with themselves and with others. I focus both on helping clients tend to their emotions in the moment, and helping them to explore earlier relationships that have impacted their present functioning.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe in honoring my clients' wisdom, and self-determination. I do not believe that I know better than my client what is best for them, but I strive to be more of a guide or facilitator in helping them get more clear about that for themselves. I value integrity, connection, slowing down, and acknowledging cultural and systemic issues that impact our mental health, and these values have informed my work in therapy both as a client, and as a therapist. I believe when we grant ourselves the time and space to get to know ourselves, nourish ourselves, and accept support from others, we are much better equipped to support and be present for others.
