About My Clients

My experience is primarily with LGBQIA+, transgender, and gender-expansive clients, and my approach is supportive, affirming, and integrates advocacy and power analysis. I mostly see older adolescents and adults for individual or couples therapy, and I also work with partners considering marriage (i.e., premarital counseling) or other life transitions (cohabitating, considering children, and more). I accept private pay clients or those with Humana or United insurance.

My Background and Approach

I work with clients navigating anxiety, depression, work/life balance, life transitions, boundaries, stress, trauma, religious or spiritual trauma, identity development, and more. I believe clients are the experts of their own experiences and that a positive, collaborative therapeutic alliance is deeply important. My approach to therapy is grounded in those beliefs, and I work diligently to create a space where clients feel brave, heard, and empowered. I believe therapy should be holistic, pulling from systems theory, dialectical behavior therapy, narrative therapy, strengths-based, and person-centered approaches. I operate from a harm reduction framework and utilize motivational interviewing. I'm generally laid-back, welcoming, direct, and use the occasional swear word, but only if that works for you. I hold a Master of Social Work, and I’m currently a licensed master social worker (LMSW) under the supervision of Mick Rehrig, LCSW and direction of Carrie Gensler, LPC.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am committed to anti-racism, am LGBTQ+ affirming, and use a social justice framework in my practice. While acknowledging that rarely can a space be completely safe, I believe deeply that the therapy space should allow clients to feel brave, and I am committed to doing my own work and unlearning through supervision, consultation, readings, and training to create that space for clients. I believe that therapy can be a space to explore your identity, find healing, process experiences and emotions, and more. I have a history of working in LGBTQ+ youth homelessness, family reunification, and child advocacy. As a white cis-female with a BIPOC partner, my commitment to anti-racism, decentering whiteness, and liberation is deeply personal, as well as professional. My personal and professional values are inextricably intertwined. When I'm not working, I enjoy spending time with my family and dog, listening to audiobooks, and drinking iced coffee.

I have experience with the following
  • Agnosticism
  • Christianity
