My Background and Approach

Lissa is a board certified psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner (PMHNP-BC) and mental health integrative medicine provider as well as a certified yoga, qigong, and mindfulness teacher who can provide mental health services to people of all ages. Lissa has experience offering a variety of services including holistic and integrative care, psychotropic medication monitoring, psychotherapy, group facilitation, coaching, mindful movement (yoga, qigong, improvisation) and meditation instruction. Lissa is presently in a training for certified functional medicine coaching, which focuses on addressing the root causes of dis-ease. Lissa is trained and experienced in many therapeutic approaches including indigenous focusing-oriented therapy (IFOT), cognitive behavioral therapy, compassion-focused therapy, attachment-focused play therapy, trauma-informed care, and strength-based and person-centered approaches.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

Lissa provides inclusive, culturally responsive, and social-justice oriented therapeutic approaches and believes in offering services from a holistic and decolonized perspective. Lissa’s background includes continual practice, study, and training in anti-racism and anti-oppression work, decolonial care, Indigenous and African practices, Buddhism (Soto Zen and Theravada), mindfulness meditation and movement (yoga, qigong, improvisation), and mental health and holistic care. Lissa has completed a number of trauma trainings including a year-long somatic trauma therapy training in Indigenous Focusing-Oriented Therapy (IFOT) that is particularly skillful in caring for complex, intergenerational, and race- and oppression-based trauma. Lissa is particularly interested in the intersections of dharma, social justice, and embodied radical care and is particularly moved to work with populations less likely to have exposure or access to contemplative practices.
