About My Clients

In nutrition counseling, I focus on the whole person - not just the food/nutrition piece. I help clients learn to give themselves permission to eat enjoyable foods - not just what they "should" eat/not eat (All foods are ok), while making sure the client moves forward comfortably and sustainably. I work with people from all walks of life, religion, race, gender, and sexual orientation, focusing on compassion and evidence-based science.

My Background and Approach

My philosophy is that keeping in contact helps clients stay accountable between sessions, and helps to prevent relapse. I allow on-going clients to contact me between sessions with questions or for support surrounding eating and body image concerns. In addition to nutrition education (HAES approach), I use CBT and motivational interviewing techniques to promote behavior change, giving you better coping skills to replace your eating disorder. Starting in January 2020, Not Your Average Nutritionist became a group practice with other Dietitians on-board to help more clients! WE WORK ONLY WITH OUTPATIENT CLIENTS. See "What To Expect In Nutrition Counseling" on my blog for more info.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I focus on "Health At Every Size" and Intuitive Eating. Having personally recovered from disordered eating, I understand how frustrating it can be to be around food. I want to help you more into freedom from obsessing about food, so you can get on with more important things!
