About My Clients
I work with people who have been affected by the stress of daily life, depression, anxiety, disordered eating, body image, and body oppression.
My Background and Approach
My Philosophy of practice is built on kindness, curiosity, and compassion. Foundational to my work are the principles of Health At Every Size (HAES®), harm reduction, and social justice. I believe that your lived experiences are valid and essential for our work together, and will serve you as someone who will be a good listener as well as a catalyst for change, with respect for all that has led you to this very moment in seeking support. I incorporate this approach with evidence-based practices, including Mindfulness, CBT (cognitive behavioral therapy), DBT skills (dialectical behavioral therapy Skills), MI (motivational interviewing), and others such as general coping skills, and Narrative work. It is my belief that continuing education should not only be required for therapists but also consider it necessary for personal growth, therefore I study and attend conferences for professional and personal growth each year to enhance my usefulness to you.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe that all people are worthy, regardless of size, gender identity or expression, sex assigned at birth, who you find physically or emotionally attractive, age, ability, class, race, culture, religion, or national origin. Below is both my personal and professional philosophy. I believe... ...ALL BODIES deserve respect, love, kindness, and pleasure. ...there is no moral value in food, body size, or activity. ...in BODY AUTONOMY. ...that diet culture is harmful. ...that fear is a harmful motivator. ...that silence perpetuates injustice. ...YOU ARE THE EXPERT on your body. ...that there is healing power in your story. ... that community fosters power and healing. ...that resting is self-compassion. ...that when we know better, we must do better. ...that YOUR COPING HAS HELPED YOU SURVIVE. ...our BODIES ARE WISE. ...YOU ARE WORTHY.
