Lauren Traitz (she/her)

I am a Marriage and Family Therapist trained in family systems theory and couples counseling. I also have specialized knowledge with ethical non-monogamy and sex positivity in relationships.

My concentration in graduate school was Spiritual and Depth Psychology, so I have specialized training in transpersonal dimensions of psychology. I have my own spiritual practice and have over a decade of personal study in various theologies.

My clinical training has been largely in psychoanalytic and psychodynamic modalities, which place emphasis on early relationships, rupture and repair, and the intersubjective space between client and therapist.

I am currently training in Somatic Experiencing®, a body-centered trauma therapy. I am also supervised by an Orgonomic Therapist who incorporates bodywork. Our group practice is holistic and collaborates with other healing modalities such as massage, movement, and acupuncture.

My specialization in graduate school was rooted in the Depth/Jungian tradition, and I have continued to study dreamwork and other imaginal techniques. I weave these into my practice whenever they facilitate deeper engagement of Self, Spirit, or World.

My clinical training has been in psychoanalytic psychotherapy but is influenced by various traditions under the larger psychodynamic umbrella. My psychodynamic orientation brings attention to intrapsychic dynamics, the influence of early relationships and experiences, and the relational dynamics between client and therapist.

I'm interested in more than just my client's stability, although this is central to any and all personal growth. I believe therapy can be a place of expanding into and embodying one's full and complex Self. When we define our wellbeing through achievement and problem-solving alone, we miss out on encountering the edges of our current sense of self and discovering what aches to grow and become in us.

The therapeutic relationship can serve as a microcosm for other relationships in our lives. I strive to establish a connection with my clients that allows space for experimentation, exploration of early and repetitive relational patterns, and practicing rupture and repair.

Relationship counseling can provide so much more than an emergency fix in a crisis– it can be an arena for deep self-exploration and conscious co-creation of a relationship that supports all members' needs, visions, and values. I hold a relational lens in the individual work I do as well, because relationships are most often at the center of our lives. I also have specialized knowledge with ethical non-monogamy and sex positivity.

Ecopsychology permeates my practice even when we are meeting in-office. I pay close attention to your relationship to the natural world and your own natural rhythms. I also have training and experience in supporting folks with ecological/climate anxiety and grief.
