About My Clients
My goal is to support you through humor, warmth and empathy by walking beside you and trusting in your strengths and abilities. I specialize in assisting LGBTQIA+ individuals and couples working on relationship dynamics, trauma healing, anxiety, depression, life transitions, sexuality, interpersonal stressors, and self-esteem. One of my priorities is to assist clients in developing a deeper understanding of the mind-body connection and how we store trauma in the body.
My Background and Approach
At the heart of my practice, I maintain an attachment theory perspective to assist you in developing insight into the origin of patterns and behaviors that inform how you connect with others and view yourself. In addition to being a marriage and family therapist licensed in both Nevada and Ohio, I am a certified yoga instructor (CYT-200) with over 20 years of experience in mindfulness and meditation practice. I'm currently working toward my doctoral degree in mind-body medicine and integrative mental health to better assist you. We will work together on developing skills and insight into how your emotions, thoughts and feelings are interconnected physically, mentally and emotionally. I believe the therapeutic environment should be comfortable, safe, warm, and supportive where you are free to explore and set goals for yourself. I approach our process with curiosity and consistently believe in your limitless potential.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I value and prioritize an intersectional approach, and acknowledge there are a multitude of complexities and inequalities that have shaped and impacted your life. I am a member of the LGBTQIA+ community and I have worked with LGBTQIA+ youth in residential and foster care through developing mindfulness skills and setting healthy boundaries. Also of note, I welcome and encourage clients to introduce me to their pets over telehealth! I love all animals and I've volunteered/fostered with local rescues in Nevada, this is a cause close to my heart.
