Via empathetic listening, compassion, and some (attempted!) humor too, I encourage clients to share their joys and their struggles, as well as the parts we may keep hidden from others due to being shamed, ignored, or stigmatized.
I believe we all want to be seen, heard, validated and understood. I see the therapist-client dynamic as a collaborative relationship to work towards creating change, growth, acceptance or whatever your goals may be. My work is rooted in trauma-informed, antiracist, feminist, person centered and strengths-based principles. I like to share that I have ADHD, & also relate to those who have learning differences and the impact it can have. I use a variety of modalities in my practice including: CBT, DBT, ACT, reality, adlerian, and more.
