About My Clients
Reaching out to connect with a counselor is a huge step and one we take in an effort to connect with support, understanding, and potentially guidance. I enjoy supporting adults struggling with anxiety and depression, bipolar disorder, loss, and relationship struggles and conflict. I am also available to help individuals navigate the effects of trauma and establish a more peaceful life in both body and mind.
My Background and Approach
My areas of specialty include life transitions, relationships, new diagnoses, loss, depression, anxiety, and mood disorders. I use psychodynamic, somatic (body-centered awareness), and emotionally focused therapy while also considering the impact of a person’s environment on their health. I am trained in Level one Accelerated Resolution Therapy (ART), a mind-body modality primarily utilized for processing trauma via visualization and sensation processing.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe the foundation of deep therapeutic work begins with your feelings of comfort and safety in the room. I foster this by emphasizing our counselor-client relationship. I see all of life as relational and healing occurring on three levels: our relationship with our physical body and how we feel in our own skin; our relationship with our mind or, the way in which we think; and our relationship with the outer world, including the people in our past and present. At any time, one or more of these may be causing strain or difficulty in our lives. We navigate change through the collaborative exploration of what is needed to build, nurture, and/or release, that which is standing in the way of peace and wholeness.
