My Background and Approach

I attended The University of Texas at Austin where I earned my Bachelor of Science in human development and family sciences. I was awarded my Master of Arts in professional counseling at Texas State University in 2011. In addition to traditional talk therapy, I use play and sandtray therapy with my clients. I am certified in (Trauma-Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT). During counseling, I use encouragement to facilitate you, or your child, in identifying your personal strengths that will help you cope adaptively to life’s stress. Together, as a team, you and I will explore ways to achieve the goals you set as we begin your healing journey.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

While I believe in and advocate for multiple social justice platforms, there has always been a special place in my heart for the LGBTQ community. I am not just LGBTQ friendly, I am LGBTQ affirmative. No matter what mental health concerns leads a person to beginning counseling with me, I will always be mindful of how systemic oppression plays a role in a person’s life. Not just sexual orientation, but race/ethnicity, gender, age or faith as well.
