About My Clients
I work with multi-generational families to help uncover and heal the many wounds that have gone unaddressed but impact the family dynamic. I also specialize in working with Caucasian families that have adopted or are fostering African American children.
My Background and Approach
I am a Certified Trauma-Responsive and Developmental and Relational Trauma Therapist. I help people understand how the past impacts our present. So many of our issues and problems are relational and I help people with their relationships. From entire families and couples, to individuals trying to make sense of what is happening in their lives, I help people explore their childhoods, families of origin, and upbringings as the root of their current challenges and concerns. I help people understand how trauma (systemic oppression and personal trauma) impacts their bodies and brains, while equipping them with skills and tools to not only cope, but heal.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I am a Believer (I haven't used the word "christian" to describe myself in a long time) who understands the role the 'Church' has played in systemic and personal trauma for many people and groups. I am passionately involved in violence prevention and have worked with Sandy Hook Promise for several years and facilitate Trauma-Informed Storytelling workshops with BeSpoken Live. I am the consulting therapist for the Mourning the Creation of Racial Categories project and am a trauma trainer across the nation. I believe that EVERYONE deserves to be seen, heard, and understood AND I know that there are many systems in place that are actively working against this. So I create safe spaces for people to be who they are!
