Our emotions inform our thoughts, which in turn, inform our behaviors. When clients are looking to address maladaptive coping strategies or thought patterns that continually get them "stuck" in situations that are uncomfortable or distressing, I employ exercises and education using the CBT framework. Most commonly, I create individualized CBT treatment plans for clients looking to address feelings of anxiety, fear, worry, or perfectionism.
Humans are social beings. We are built to be in relationship with one another and often, these relationship inform the meaning and level of fulfillment we feel in our daily lives. When maladaptive patterns begin to rupture our relationships, it can cause tremendous distress. I work with clients to examine their strengths and address their challenges in forming and maintain relationships that promote overall emotional wellbeing.
For some people, traditional talk therapy doesn't address the deeper wounds that need healing. When words fall flat, I draw from my own background as a dancer and artist to assist clients in exploring emotions and relational patterns. I use multiple modalities, such as art, movement, dance, and play, to encourage curiosity and self- compassion in my clients.
