About My Clients

Are you feeling disconnected, anxious, stressed, or overwhelmed? Are you in need of support and not sure where to turn? I am passionate about working with teens, young adults, and adults who are working through a life transition, anxiety, depression, disordered eating, low self esteem/poor body image, trauma, relational struggles, and difficulty connecting and making friends.

My Background and Approach

Prior to group practice, I worked as a counselor at the Eating Recovery Center in Northbrook, where I provided services to adolescents struggling with eating disorders, mood/anxiety disorders, & trauma related disorders. I have also spent time at the Waco Center for Youth providing supportive services with adolescents, such as emotional regulation & conflict de-escalation. I have nearly five years of experience in residential facilities for adolescents and teenagers with various mental health disorders. These mental health disorders include eating disorders, anxiety, depression, PTSD, and reactive attachment disorder. Additionally, I have worked in a clinic setting with adults with various presenting problems such as relationship concerns, trauma, depression, anxiety, etc. I have an integrative style so that my clients can receive individualized treatment that is tailor made for their needs. My therapeutic style can be described as authentic, empathetic, and relational.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

At Nikkie Evans PLLC we are passionate about creating progress, not perfection. What does that mean? You know that horrible feeling you get in your gut when something hasn’t gone the way you planned it to go? Maybe your school experience hasn’t been all that you imagined it would be. Perhaps you failed an important test. You’re struggling to feel like you fit in. Didn’t get into your dream college. Got into a conflict with someone. Didn’t get the job. Bad first date. Wasn’t the perfect “pinterest mom” for your kids. Feeling like a failure or like you don’t measure up can make us feel stuck. We value progress. Progress allows us to stay present and focused on small steps along the way, rather than the end goal. By focusing on the smaller steps, we are able to enjoy life, even if things are not perfect, because we have a greater awareness of our progress. We will help you to replace negative thoughts with new ways to speak kindly and supportively to yourself.
