Kelsi Amerine (She/Her)

I obtained a Bachelor’s of Social Work from Ohio University and a Master’s of Science in Social Work with a specialization in mental health from the University of Louisville. I implement an eclectic and integrative approach in my sessions. I apply concepts and skills from Motivational Interviewing, Mindfulness-Based Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Systems and Attachment Theory, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, Internal Family Systems, and Trauma Informed Care. I establish the foundation for my therapeutic process on psychoeducation and the mind-body connection. I am a clinician trained in the Collaborative Assessment and Management of Suicidality. These techniques have strengthened my competency/specialty in the area of assisting clients in de-centering themselves from overwhelming thoughts, emotions, and body sensations so they feel more in control and present in their life.

I strongly believe in holistic, client-driven interventions that take all aspects of wellness into treatment planning. I also believe that knowledge is power and incorporate psychoeducation into my practice. As part of my practice mission and vision, I promote the de-stimatization and humanization of mental health. Mental health IS HEALTH so the mind and body must be assessed and treated as one. As a bisexual, cisgender, white female in America, I vow to continue doing the work that I need to, both personally and professionally, to ensure I am the self-aware and unbiased therapist that you deserve. Lastly, I am very passionate about the benefits of ecotherapies like human-animal interaction, nature/green therapy, and horticulture. I value the connectedness that we have with nature as well as the overall connectedness of our beings as humans. We do not live in a vacuum meaning our relationships, surroundings, and more affect our overall wellness.
