I have am trained in the S.A.F.E. Model of EMDR. This model incorporates the principles of nonviolence and mindfulness to the EMDR therapy training, as well as a simplified way to conceptualize attachment and somatic theories. Nonviolence and mindfulness are important aspects of effective therapy of any type, but especially trauma therapies. These principles foster the conditions for healing to occur. I am trained and certified in both the SCID (Structured Clinical Interview for DSM Disorders) and the SIPS (Structured Interview for Prodromal Syndromes) which help to clarify a diagnosis as well as to assess for psychic features that may be indicative of a psychotic disorder. The SCID can help to clarify a diagnosis while the SIPS will help us to hone in on what we call prodomal symptoms. One or both of these may be used in detecting fitness for this treatment.

PCIT stands for Parent Child Interaction Therapy. PCIT is an evidence-based treatment for young children showing behavioral problems such as, anger, aggression, yelling, hitting, biting, etc. These behaviors often happen at home, in school, in public, or a combination of places. However, even if your child may not have behavioral problems, PCIT has been proven effective with children who are depressed or anxious (those who may internalize as opposed to externalize).
