About My Clients

I help clients explore the relationship between mental and somatic wellness by utilizing movement and grounding. I believe in the importance of social justice, feminist and humanist ideals, intersectionality, and appreciating the innate goodness in all people. I come to each session with a warm, compassionate approach and utilize humor when appropriate. Laughing can be good medicine.

My Background and Approach

My therapeutic approach is client-centered, strengths-based, and holistic – considerate of all of the systems that affect the person's being. I have experience in mindfulness based work and utilizing deep breathing, meditation, and guided imagery to ground to the present. I will cater my approach to your specific needs, and I love creatively exploring alternative paths towards healing. This may include CBT (Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy), ACT (Accept and Commitment Therapy), expressive arts exercises, emotion regulation and coping skills training, Trauma-Focused CBT for youth, Narrative Processing, and other trauma interventions, Harm Reduction, and Motivational Interviewing. I have also been trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and Attachment-Focused Family Therapy with an emphasis in LGBTQ+ youth.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

My interest in healing practices began as a youth, struggling with my own self-esteem and trying to find my path. Through my own experiences, my strong desire to support others, and the knowledge that a compassionate relationship with a mental health professional can be an important part of healing, I decided to pursue a job in the field of Social Work. My experiences thus far in serving diverse populations, including youth with varying abilities, refugees, families in crisis, and individuals with co-occurring disorders, led me to Insight Northwest Counseling. I am beyond excited to be a potential partner in your healing process. One especially large support has been being a part of my local queer community, and thus I enjoy supporting LGBTQIA+ individuals in navigating the complexity of these identities in our society. Having had these experiences, I can empathetically relate to many challenges and know there is hope for healing and wellness.
