About My Clients

I love helping with: trauma, abuse, sexual assault, anxiety, depression, stress and overwhelm, childhood emotional neglect (CEN), foster care and adoption, blended families, stepmoms and stepparenting, perfectionism and self-criticism, family relationships, intimate relationships, loss and grief, women and girls' issues, mental health in relation to systemic oppression and inequality, mental health in relation to physical health.

My Background and Approach

I see myself as a support, a guide, a person alongside you in your own path, a helper, and someone who can help you to see yourself and your path more clearly. I see you as the expert on yourself, your experiences and life, your pain and struggle, your joy and light. As a therapist, I seek to help you to find new ways of approach, new ways of seeing, new ways of sharing and communicating, new ways of connecting that will help you to get further along the path to the life, self, relationships, and future that you want. People often describe me as warm and affirming, calming, funny, but above all things authentic and real. I believe my greatest strengths and tools as a therapist are my humanity and experiences and who I am authentically, and it is by being a real person myself that I can build a supportive and honest relationship with you, to best help you.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

In the past, therapists were trained to be a "blank slate" and to maintain strict separation between their human selves and their professional role. I approach my work as myself, not as an expert or authority figure, but as a person who can be present with your journey of understanding and can help illuminate paths you might not otherwise have considered to explore. I don't believe in that saying, "you can't love someone else until you love yourself," and in fact, I believe that we learn how to better love ourselves through connective and positive relationships with others who can reflect our worth to us. I value being a person who can help you to see your own worth more clearly, to journey toward seeing yourself, acknowledging and accepting yourself, and loving yourself. I am oriented toward all areas of social justice, support your healing in the ways that are right for you, and am about honoring and lifting up the unique identities and intersections that make us all who we are.
