About My Clients
As humans, we aren’t meant to go it alone. During these trying times (to say the least), you may be looking for some extra support from a trained mental health professional. My Background and Approach
I love working with individuals who feel that their high-achieving, perfectionistic, and overcontrolled patterns aren’t working for them anymore. In my own experiences of anxiety, rigidity, and perfectionism, I re-discovered the healing process of making. I believe our right brain and bodies can be a powerful source of wisdom in a society where dualism, logic, and order reign. My approach is also informed by Radically Open DBT (RO-DBT). RO-DBT uses self-enquiry, play, and flexible mind skills to help individuals experience social safety and decrease excessive self-control. No artistic skill is required to participate in art therapy. The process of making is often just as important as the final product. Sessions may incorporate a combination of talking and creating to express thoughts, feelings, and actions. While I believe everyone can benefit from art therapy and the creative process, I work with individuals to tailor sessions to support their healing journey.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I care deeply about respecting the value of human experience and emphasizing strengths over pathology. As a therapist, my goal is to bring gentleness, validation, and empowerment to the therapeutic relationship. Rather than being an expert, I believe in journeying alongside you as a fellow human. Whether it’s natural elements, recycled materials, or conventional art media, I believe in the benefit of creating. Each individual’s inner creative power is an important resource in navigating life's uncertainties and challenges.
