Licensed Clinical Social Worker in New York, NY
Supervised by Alissa Appel Jelveh, LCSW
I have 3+ years experience working with folks that have eating disorders and body image issues. I work from a psychodynamic/psychoanalytic lens to understand the etiology of binging, purging, and restricting. As a social worker, I use intersectional, feminist, and queer theories to understand the impact of oppression on one's relationship towards the body and food.
As someone who has diagnosed OCD, I am understanding and empathetic to the experience of obsessions and compulsions. I am competent in treating folks with a variety of obsessions and compulsions through compassionate care. I support folks interested in psychedelic integration which has been proven to be very effective for OCD.
During my graduate studies through research and writing, I explored the intersection of religious trauma, sex/sexuality, and food/body. For my graduate thesis, I explored the impact of religious trauma on one's relationship to sex and pleasure; forming of gender identity; and sexual orientation. Additionally, I explored the impact of these experiences on one's relationship to food and body image. I conducted exploratory research within the LGBTQIA+ community to understand these experiences.
