Work stress, career challenges, and anxiety of all types are my specialties. Many of my clients are mid-career professionals seeking change.
Counselor in Portland, OR
Supporting parents at various stages of their journey is something I genuinely enjoy. While I'm not a family/child counselor, I do apply my knowledge of developmental psychology to parenting challenges both in the service of supporting kids and to support my clients' own psychological wellbeing so they can realize their personal values around parenthood. Parenting is fraught with judgment in our culture, and I offer a safe, non-judgmental space to talk about the very unglamorous side of this phase of life.
I do both strategic and tactical career consulting. Strategic career counseling helps answer the question, "What should I do next," while tactical approaches answer, "How can I make that happen?" Anxiety is often a confounder in career exploration and in the tactics of making a change and I think I am most helpful when both work issues and anxiety issues are at play!
Whether you're experiencing some mild worry and anxiety or life-restricting OCD, much of my school and post-school training has focused on treating anxiety. I really enjoy working with people who have been told their anxiety is "treatment resistant." Often, as a team, we can combine a few evidence-based approaches, perhaps with help from medical providers, to help open life back up. It's not an easy road but it's one I enjoy walking on with my clients.
