About My Clients

I realize that no two people are the same, and I tailor my therapy to meet your specific needs as an individual. I love helping people understand the things that are holding them back with an in-depth approach. After recognizing underlying problems, clients can fully realize their strengths and adjust certain behaviors and thoughts to see things a different, healthier way. It is important for a therapist to understand that everyone is unique and one size fits all approach does not work.

My Background and Approach

My first goal is to understand what you are dealing with and what you would like to work on. Strangely enough figuring that out is not always an easy thing to do but Mindful Life Counseling Center is here to help people explore what will make them happier. Sometimes it is helpful for people to dig in and discover who they are, learn about their personalities, values, and temperament, as well as developing their strengths and managing (while still accepting) their weaknesses. Mindful Life Counseling Center offers evidence based assessment measures to provide clients a deeper understanding of self. I use a combination of cognitive behavioral and existential concepts with Acceptance and Commitment Therapy as well as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I try to provide a nurturing non-judgmental Person Centered approach to offer support and help clients determine their goals are and how to best reach them.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am a white, female, hetero, cis ,therapist and understand that no two people have the same experience in life. Sometimes, they have very different experiences even if they have the same or similar societal labels. My goal is not to use labels or define people by those things that identify us. My goals it to help people understand their real self and I do that by seeing them, not those things that the world uses to limit us. I have advanced training in treating eating disorders. Disordered eating is a complex issue involving human development, family systems, stress, exercise, nutrition, society norms, and culture. I value mindfulness and believe in an intuitive approach to eating. I embrace using mindfulness to increase awareness, clarity, and acceptance of life experiences. Using mindfulness for breathing, body sensations and daily activities, we learn to be mindful of our thoughts and feelings, to become aware, and more accepting.
