My Background and Approach

My clinical training stems from over 10 years working in the public school system and in the community mental health realm. My working style is eclectic and I use techniques from the following schools of thought: Adlerian, attachment-based, cognitive-behavioral, existential, family systems, humanistic, Jungian, mindfulness, motivational interviewing, multicultural, narrative, solution focused I'm a huge proponent of incorporating mindfulness and being more aware of how we treat our physical selves and how that directly relates to how we feel mentally. We'll probably start each session with a super short meditation to transition you from your work day into your session time and we'll most likely end with a recognition of something positive that's happened over the last week. We're too hard on ourselves and that often times messes up our ability to see the good in ourselves and realize we're enough.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I named my practice after the fire poppy flower. Fire poppies are a unique and rare native California plant that are found after there’s been a wildfire. Their seeds begin to germinate after being exposed to fire and from there bloom into a brilliant fluorescent orange flower. I believe that our most challenging times don’t have to be the end of something, and that they can be a catalyst for an inner greatness that we have had dormant and forgotten about. We all have the potential to use these personal wildfires as an opportunity to not just grow, but thrive and radiate. As a Black and 2nd gen Greek woman, I strongly believe in social equity and am part of a collective called Therapists of Color for Social Justice. The other therapists and I organize and facilitate twice monthly healing workshops for the BIPOC Community and offer workshops to activists. Using our clinical skills to help others is our contribution to the current Civil Rights Movement.
