About My Clients
The traumatized who seek personal power come to me. Those who don't know how to grieve but are mired in depression come to me. Those who had developmental trauma, abuse, or grew up in addiction come to me. I find my practice is often full of those in the recovery lifestyle who are working through anxiety and depression while re-parenting themselves as well. I serve pregnant and postpartum women and am glad to screen for post-partum mood disorders. Young adults are always welcome in my practice.
My Background and Approach
I am a licensed mental health counselor and Art Therapist in the State of Washington. I am also a consultant, presenter, former Chemical Dependency Professional, nature-connected coaching student/guide apprentice, mental health advocate, mixed-media artist, mountain ultra athlete/runner/climber, and ally. I have 22 years in mental healthcare, and I am mother of a child, giving me the opportunity and experience of parenting a child through his formative years. I’ve also been a working mother who understands the demands of balancing work and family while practicing self-care. My goal is to provide you with a therapeutic experience that addresses the concerns that have brought you to counseling. I welcome working with clients on a wide range of issues and distresses including but not limited to: Adjustment disorders, trauma recovery, anxiety, depression, relationship issues, children of alcoholics/addicts, recovery from abuse, grief and loss, and self esteem issues.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Within community mental health work I received training and became an ally for oppressed peoples. I strongly believe in doing one's own work regarding privilege, and in examining the roles we play in maintaining systemic problems. Similarly, I am committed to being a multi-culturally competent therapist and regularly participate in training to continue to be competent for my diverse clients. I continually am informed by a client's greater culture, family system, and belief structure. During my time as a community family services therapist I was an active member of the King County Coalition Against Domestic Violence and the King County Methamphetamine Action Committee. I have a deep concern for those escaping abuse and addiction and will fight along with clients to achieve mental and behavioral wellness no matter how dark of a past a client has. I believe that every human being has great value, deserves respect, and is worth their needs.
