About My Clients

I have a general practice with adults, and enjoy working with a wide variety of people; this includes individuals living in alternative family configurations, creative artists, activists, anyone affected by HIV/AIDS or in the LGBTQ community. I bring a wide range of creativity, in a strength-based approach, to meet the challenges and goals you are ready to work on.

My Background and Approach

I have over twenty years experience providing social services and adherence counseling (specific to overcoming difficulties in taking medications as prescribed). Trained in Motivational Interviewing and Stages of Change, a treatment strategy that facilitates the process of change to assist you in reaching your goals while resolving ambivalence. Talk therapy is most effective when integrated through the body. If you are willing, I will work with you to explore movement and sound. I have practiced Continuum Movement since 1988 and have experience with Buteyko breath work. Also, my training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy gives me a foundation to work with trauma. The more open, collaborative, and able you are to invest time and effort between sessions, the more integrated the work we do together will become. I will ask for feedback at each session so we can work together effectively.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

At the core of my philosophy is a deep belief in our ability to heal. Having worked with people with chronic illnesses, HIV/AIDS and Cancer, I know it helps to use our whole being in the healing process; our emotions, creativity, spirituality, and physicality. My work with Arnold Mindell’s Process Psychology, Neuro Linguistic Programing, and my Creative Writing, especially my work with Tom Spanbauer’s Dangerous Writing, also informs our work together.
