About My Clients
You truly care about your partner, but you’re starting to wonder how long you can keep going like this. You’ve had yet another day of the same old issues. You’re overwhelmed, irritated, and tired of walking on eggshells. You’ve tried to bring up what’s bothering you, but those conversations always turn into arguments. It might be hard to admit, but thoughts about leaving your partner are starting to creep in - and you wonder if they are feeling the same way.
My Background and Approach
As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, not only am I highly trained to provide therapy, I really love working with couples. I have an uncanny knack for seeing many sides of a problem, slowing down the emotional turmoil, and honing in on the heart of the matter in a caring and thoughtful way. Couples counseling with me is not a place where you or your partner “vent” your grievances and one of you inevitably feels ganged up on. Our work will consist of weekly sessions to get to the core of your issues as quickly as possible (I don't want you to be in counseling forever!). I share practical tools so you can stop arguments in their tracks and openly communicate your needs in a way that actually brings you closer together. I also compassionately help get to the bottom of why conflicts are occurring in the first place so that they don't resume once you end counseling.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
I believe relationship problems are highly complex. They are not located within a person - that's why you won't hear me passing judgment or saying "I know whose fault this is" in couples counseling. I will work with each of you to carefully explore your feelings and needs, and communicate these in a loving yet firm way to your partner.
