About My Clients

Navigating the world as a teenager or young adult can be difficult on its own. Then, add in life stressors that can come with school and life planning and the experience can be overwhelming. It is common to feel alone or lost when struggling especially in our current times. As a counselor, my goal is to provide clients a safe and non-judgemental space where they can engage in self-exploration and self-understanding while developing tools to manage life stressors.

My Background and Approach

I graduated from the University of North Texas with a Master's in Counseling. There I developed and trained in using humanistic, holistic. and culturally-aware therapeutic approaches in my work. I have experience working in university counseling centers and generalized practices. This work led me to focus on learning to help clients with anxiety, depression, life transitions, and stress management. Additionally, I developed specialties in working with LGBTQ+ individuals, adolescents, and young adults. My approach to counseling is person-centered & strengths-based. I recognize you as the expert on yourself and your experiences. In counseling, I use my knowledge and skills to support you as you work towards your goals and wellness. I work to identify strengths you already possess and help you develop them further. Using these strengths in creative ways can be key to overcoming life's obstacles.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I believe humans to be dynamic beings. We are capable of more than we believe. However, that it can be hard to see that potential within ourselves. Many of us struggle to embrace ourselves and our potential because our culture can impart harmful messages about us. At the same time, we learn harmful messages about others. I believe that unpacking these messages is key to living a fulfilled life. Developing an open mind and heart takes work and practice but allows us to form deeper relationships with others. It is this process that drew me to counseling in the first place. I hope to help others gain a deeper understanding of themselves and of their world so that life feels more open and free. In my free time, I enjoy going on adventures either through video or tabletop games. I enjoy getting creative through writing and playing Dungeons & Dragons. I hope one day to bring those into my work as a counselor. I would love to hear from you if you are interested in working together.
