My Background and Approach

I offer expertise in communication, polyamory, and open relationships. I am interested in exploring new archetypes for masculinity and femininity. I support people creating rites of passage in their own lives: emerging from the family as a differentiated individual, the transition into parenthood, the beginning or ending of relationships. I welcome artists, Burning Man attendees, people in the BDSM and Open Relationship communities, LGBTQ individuals, couples, and other relationship groupings. I am BDSM and open relationship knowledgeable. I also enjoy working with therapists-in-training who are doing their own work to become better therapists, people going through phase of life changes, and with new parents struggling to figure how their lives have changed. My MA is from Pacifica Graduate Institute and I seek to blend depth psychology with practical solutions to issue that client bring into the room. I have training in Internal Family Systems therapy and the Gottman Method.

My Personal Beliefs and Interests

I am active in the LGBT, BDSM, and Open Relationship communities in San Francisco, New York, and Boston. I have an expansive view of sex and sexuality and I teach other therapists and prospective therapists about human sexuality, alternative relationships, and other topics. I identify as gender fluid and open in sexual orientation. While I am not currently practicing a particular faith, I grew up with a strong thread of Judeo-Christian values in the Episcopal Church and I currently study a form of neo-Druidry that is non-dogmatic and puts an emphasis on being present for yourself and others and respecting nature in all its forms. I follow English Premiere League football and NCAA basketball. In my spare time, I like to knit, play music, read, and do things outdoors. I parent boy/girl twins and am becoming active in their school community. In addition to being in private practice, I also work as an EAP counselor in a tech firm and I am an Adjunct Professor at Golden Gate University.
