It's clear that state violence against marginalized communities, intersecting oppressions, and intergenerational trauma are at the heart of what leads to most mental illness. We're not expected to be okay in the face of constant danger and injustice. And yet, part of transforming the world is honoring our need for connection, rest, safety, happiness, and belonging. I've spent my life learning to hold space that doesn't pathologize anger, fear, or grief. I recognize that trust is earned over time, and healing comes from the therapeutic alliance itself (the relationship we develop in therapy).
I am also affirming and knowledgeable about neurodiversity, LGBTQIA+, kink, and ethically nonmonogamous communities, including how to navigate consent, community, identity, access/inclusion, and power dynamics.
