About My Clients
You've been trying so hard to let the past go and be in the present, to figure out who you are in the world and the world is in crisis. Current stressors tug on past traumas. Anxiety ramps you up, depression drags you down, and uncertainty abounds. I provide a safe space to work through trauma, anxiety, and depression, even in uncertain times. Together we will rebuild your sense of self and self-compassion, allowing you to connect with others and better weather hard times.
My Background and Approach
My own early adulthood (and beyond) was a struggle in large part because of childhood and adolescent trauma. I am on the other side of that now. It was not always easy, but I have the lived experience of working through it. You, too, have inner resources to build upon, even if it doesn't feel that way right now. My approach is relational and collaborative, allowing us to become partners as you move towards a freer existence. Early experiences matter. Social forces also exert a huge influence on how free we feel to live authentically. Supportive, positive, and accepting relationships are healing no matter your age. I work with you to take control over your destiny in ways that fit you. Together we will subvert the forces of discrimination, negative assumptions, and the past.
My Personal Beliefs and Interests
Working on a crisis hotline, combined with my family and personal history of depression and chronic illness, has made me intimately familiar with the darker places within. I am comfortable sitting with suicidal thoughts and self-harm.
