Associate Professional Clinical Counselor in Tarzana, CA
Supervised by Atiya Malik, LMFT
I have been trained and utilize a trauma-aware philosophy working with all clients. My foundation is creating safe and affirming spaces for people to feel seen, heard, and accepted no matter what they say, do, feel, experience, or have experienced.
My approach looks beneath the surface, opens up insight about the present by understanding past dynamics, assessing attachment, recognizing and adapting defenses, and utilizes the therapeutic relationship to guide the client's growth in treatment.
I consider myself to be my clients' partner taking this journey of awareness together. I remind clients that no matter what they've felt or seen or heard or have experienced, I will support and care for them unconditionally. This foundation can serve as a corrective emotional experience for clients.
I am a trauma-aware clinician who has been trained to adapt my approach to meet all clients' needs. My supervisor and mentor, Dr. Sharon Burnett, is a trauma specialist and student of Dr. Elisabeth Kübler-Ross, world renowned trauma expert.
My focus of graduate and post-graduate research and clinical work has been developing the Gender Inclusive Counseling™ model and helping mental health and medical providers on affirming practices for all clients.
As a long-time advocate for LGBTQIA+ individuals, I am constantly adapting and learning to provide the most engaged and affirming support for my clients and their loved ones.
I use a trauma-informed philosophy working with people who have experienced childhood sexual abuse, adult sexual abuse and sexual violence.
We explore all facets of intergenerational/historical trauma using a bio psychosocial, relational and multicultural approach.
