Licensed Clinical Social Worker in Denver, CO
"Ecotherapy" supports you in experiencing a deep and nurturing connection to nature. I believe we can heal relationships with ourself and with others by learning from the environment. A session might include exploring therapeutic goals while walking or sitting in public parks and open spaces. We can also engage in activities and rituals indoors (such as meditation and mindfully observing nature) that support healthy ways of being and healing. Please contact me so we can discuss possibilities!
I trained for a year with the Narrative Therapy Initiative (NTI), earning a certificate in Narrative Therapy. This worldview endorses the belief that you are the expert on you, and nothing about you is a problem. The problem is the problem. We explore a new way to relate to old stories (example: "being good enough" or "I'm too ----- ") that are no longer serving you. This type of therapy can be effective for folx seeking to understand their identity or "make meaning" of life events.
I have studied mindfulness, and practice frequently with clients and in my daily life. We can increase awareness and presence via online therapy sessions, or we can head outside! I lead nature-based or "ecotherapy" sessions that employ the wonders of the outdoor world to increase mindfulness and cultivate presence. These practices can help you cope with stress, anxiety, depression, and other challenges plus increase the quality of your relationships. Please reach out so we can discuss!
This is a space for individuals or couples asking, "how did we get here?" You may want to increase understanding of one another, explore thoughts and emotions without furthering conflict; and to shift unhelpful dynamics that feel really loud in the relationship. I can help you connect to common values in order to promote kind ways of relating to each other, effective communication, purposeful intimacy, sweet quality time, and overall, a healthy way forward.
The complex dimensions of loss can feel overwhelming. I also recognize that ways of the Western world may influence us to shut down or to have to act like "everything is okay" after time has passed. I gently and empathetically support your preferred way of relating to loss, and we will get to understanding this. I can hold the very tough emotions with you as we explore loss such as relationship endings, life transitions, death of a loved one, infertility or miscarriage.
Whether you are questioning your current faith, having spiritual concerns, wanting to ask existential questions, seeking to understand your worth, or are experiencing suffering due shame, guilt, trauma, grief/loss, past regrets, or other difficulties, I can support you in this journey. We can also explore nature-based support in outdoor ecotherapy sessions that I offer to Colorado-based clients (near Denver, Golden, Lakewood, Boulder, and Aurora).
