Cognitive behavioral therapy works by helping you monitor your internal dialogue and begin to gently challenge your worry thoughts or negative beliefs. We'll talk through what are your common negative beliefs and use strategies to teach you mindfulness to notice the thoughts and let them go as well as techniques to help you choose new and wise thoughts to focus on instead.
EMDR is a wonderful therapy created by Francine Shapiro that works by using bilateral stimulation to help unlock trauma from your nervous system and heal. We'll work together and take a history and discover what your presenting complaints are and what traumatic memories are associated with your current symptoms. Then we'll focus on you experiencing relaxation protocols to release stress as well as diving into a gentle exploration of your trauma history at your own pace.
Neuroscience researchers say that most of us spend the majority of our time not paying attention and this makes us unhappy. I'll teach you ways to stay focused on what you enjoy so you can build the inner strength to notice what you are feeling and thinking and how to respond to life's challenges more mindfully.
