EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) is for those who are seeking to heal from their symptoms and emotional distress that are the result of disturbing life experiences. The EMDR process teaches you the resources needed to get through the distress of processing the past, and move into the future confidently.
Coaching is ideally for those who already recognize and have come to terms to their limitations and/or barriers and would like to find ways to move past them in order to achieve their goals. It is for highly motivated individuals that are both mentally and physically in a space to take actionable steps towards a desired goal that they seek to accomplish. I offer accountability, parenting, and mindfulness coaching.
Most of my experience has been working within family systems, specifically between parents and their children. Often times, parents will seek therapy services due to their child's misbehaviors. I have learned that if the child's misbehaviors are to change I must work collaboratively with the parents and treat the family as whole as opposed to trying treat only the child.
Anxiety is another term that is overused & misused to describe any emotions that evoke nervousness, unease, panic, stress, etc. EVERYONE experiences anxiety but that doesn't mean everyone has an anxiety disorder. I get really anxious too right before I have to take an exam, if I am going to a place I've never been, when meeting new people, and when I have a doctor's appointment. I aim to help people determine if they have a true anxiety disorder & provide tools to help manage anxiety symptoms.
Depression is often used carelessly and inappropriately to describe periods of feeling down and is usually associated to real life stressors. Your job sucks, you have annoying relatives, and you are broke. Yea that is depressing! But that may not mean you are clinically depressed. I aim to help educate the misuse and overuse of the word, depression, as well as help people decipher if they are clinically depressed or just reacting appropriately to their current circumstances.
